Emma completed the first year of her MSc in conservation for Archaeology and Museums at University College London. A large part of the course consists of practical conservation work. The objects she worked on included “a modern ceramic bowl, a Bronze Age ceramic juglet, an Egyptian glass vessel, a roman coin, a Cambodian iron crampon, an ancient Egyptian limestone stela, a Krishnanagar figure, wooden coffin fragments and a Roman leather shoe”.  She particularly enjoyed the Krishnanagar figure from Bengal which arrived in very bad condition and allowed her “to employ lots of the new techniques” she had been taught.

After a year, she feels one step closer to her goal of becoming a professional conservator at a UK museum.
